Lyn Button Clinical Specialist Speech and Language  Therapist; HCPC Registered, MRCSLT, MASLTIP


Registration with the Information and Commissioners Office (ICO) and policy review occurs annually.  Registration with the Healthcare Professions Council is renewed every two years and memberships of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy and the Association of SLT’s in Private Practice are renewed annually.  Formal guidance for data gathering and protection are taken from each professional resource to ensure all data is handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (2018).

Lyn Button is a sole practitioner providing specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to Adult Clients.  Lyn Button is the data controller.

All data will be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to individual clients for legitimate interests and professional obligation.

Data will ONLY be collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes.  Verbal consent will be gained from the client to collect required data.

Data collected is only adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.  All data will be accurate and kept up to date.

Data will only be kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for an 8 year period following completion of contract between the SLT and the adult client as prescribed by the HCPC, RCSLT and NHS Guidelines.

All data will be processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data:

Paper note records are stored in a locked filing system

All electronic records are stored using password protection

All emails will be sent using an encrypted system, or will be anonimised using Initials only or with the knowledge and verbal consent of the specific client

Clients can write to request access their stored personal data.

Confidentiality and disclosure of information:  

Data provided to Lyn Button will remain confidential and shall only be shared with verbal consent from the client as part of direct healthcare requirements or for research and teaching once fully anonymised.

Testimonials may be requested by the SLT and published on a website or promotional page but only with verbal consent from the Client and after being anonimised.

The only people who will access this data will be the SLT requiring it for their work.
